Insemination IUI

1.Ovarian Stimulation
In some cases, fertility medications are used to stimulate the ovaries to produce multiple eggs. This increases the likelihood of releasing a viable egg during ovulation, enhancing the chances of conception. Not all IUI cycles require ovarian stimulation, but it is commonly used to improve success rates.
2.Egg Tracking
Monitoring the development and release of eggs is crucial. This is typically done through a combination of blood tests to measure hormone levels and transvaginal ultrasounds to visualize the ovaries and track the growth of follicles. Timing the insemination correctly with the natural ovulation cycle or induced ovulation is key to the procedure’s success.
3.Sperm Preparation
On the day of the insemination, a sperm sample is collected from the male partner or a donor. The sample undergoes a “washing” process to concentrate the sperm and remove seminal fluid and other debris. This preparation enhances the motility and viability of the sperm, increasing the chances of successful fertilization.
4.Insemination
The prepared sperm is then placed directly into the woman’s uterus using a thin, flexible catheter. This is a quick and relatively painless procedure, usually performed in a doctor’s office. The goal is to deposit the sperm as close to the fallopian tubes as possible to facilitate
the meeting of the sperm and egg.
After these steps, the woman can resume normal activities and will typically have a pregnancy test approximately two weeks later
to determine if the procedure was successful.
