Laparoscopic / Robotic Myomectomy

Fibroids are the most common benign tumors of the uterus. They originate from the smooth muscle of the uterus and they may vary in size from as small as 1cm (1/2 inch) to as large as 10-15cm (5-6 inches). They may remain asymptomatic or they may cause pain, abnormal vaginal bleeding, infertility, recurrent abortions. If they cause symptoms or if they are quite large they should be removed. The traditional method for fibroid removal is the open laparotomy. However, during the last years more and more surgeons  adopt the laparoscopic method for myomectomy. This means that the procedure is performed through small incisions (1cm or 0.5 inch) and the patient has minimal pain, quick recovery and 1 night hospital stay. When the fibroids are numerous then the "Da Vinci" robotic system can be used with an additional cost.

You will need to stay 1 night in the hospital.

Hysteroscopic myomectomy

In some cases, the fibroids are in the endometrial cavity. Then, the approach will be hysteroscopically. The operative hysteroscope is inserted through the vagina and cervix and the procedure is completed without any incision.
